چکیده

Purpose Active flow control on the NACA 0024 airfoil defined as suction-injection jet at chord-based Reynolds number of 1.5 × 1e + 5 is studied. Design/methodology/approach The three-dimensional incompressible unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations with SST k- ω turbulence model are used to study effects coflow-jet (CFJ) dynamic and static stall phenomena. CFJ implementation conducted several momentum coefficients investigate their turnover. Furthermore, current work intends analyze performance by varying coefficient comparing all states baseline airfoil, which has not been studied in prior research investigations. Findings It observed that ( Cµ ) 0.06, lift low attack angles (up a = 15) dramatically increase. given lowered frequency 0.15 explored. In instance 0.07, curve does show noticeable feature compared 0.05, suggesting more powerful stronger can entirely stall. Originality/value

experimental investigation of active flow control for changing stall angle of a naca0012 airfoil, using plasma-actuator

active flow control has great importance in design of flying objects in general and control flaps in particular. using dielectric barrier discharge as plasma actuators over control flaps can cause a change in position of separation point or can eliminate it. this new flow control device produces a body force that causes generating a micro wall jet. the present study aims to investigate experime...

Active Control of Flow Separation Over an Airfoil

Designing an aircraft without conventional control surfaces is of interest to aerospace community. In this direction, smart actuator devices such as synthetic jets have been proposed to provide aircraft maneuverability instead of control surfaces. In this article, a numerical study is performed to investigate the effects of unsteady suction and blowing oil airfoils. The unsteady suction and blo...

Modeling and Multi-Objective Optimization of Stall Control on NACA0015 Airfoil with a Synthetic Jet using GMDH Type Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms

This study concerns numerical simulation, modeling and optimization of aerodynamic stall control using a synthetic jet actuator. Thenumerical simulation was carried out by a large-eddy simulation that employs a RNG-based model as the subgrid-scale model. The flow around a NACA0015 airfoil, including a synthetic jet located at 10 % of the chord, is studied under Reynolds number Re = 12.7 × 106 a...

Mixing Mechanism of a Discrete Co-Flow Jet Airfoil

The flow mechanism leading to the enhanced performance of a discrete co-flow jet (dCFJ) airfoil is investigated. Flow visualization and DPIV are used to analyze the difference between the flow along discrete jets and over the tabs used for discretization of the slot jet. Results show that the entrainment is uniform over the leading jet as long as the tab size is small enough. The jets expand sp...
